No one is coming…

There was a time when I was really obsessed about knowing my God given calling and purpose. I felt like I was destined for more and I needed to hear from God concerning what I was meant to be doing in my life and where I was meant to be. So what did I do? I spent most of my days watching sermons, reading the word, playing gospel music and praying. It was a beautiful season and I grew spiritually. A lot of prophetic words were spoken over my life and I was excited. However, my present situation didn’t change much. I was waiting for step by step instructions and directions from the Lord but they didn’t come through. In fact, I had specific answers I was looking for and I wanted an angel to come down with a scroll from heaven and tell me exactly what to do. Lo and behold that did not happen! Lol.

So although I grew spiritually, I didn’t really grow in other areas of my life in that season. I was quite stagnant professionally, academically, socially etc. I didn’t even do anything with my spiritual growth as I didn’t really touch or impact others nor did I share the gospel. I just sat in my misery, throwing a pity party about everything else that wasn’t going well. For some reason I thought that if my spiritual life was on point everything else would just fall into place. The bible does say “Seek first the kingdom of God and everything shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Well guess what, it doesn’t say seek “Only” the kingdom of God! Yes put God first and spend time with Him and in His word, but remember, faith without works is dead!

I got to a stage where I was frustrated as I wasn’t getting the results I had prayed for. Well, I’m happy to say that things took a good turn beginning of 2021. I stopped waiting for an angel of God to come and save me and I started taking steps of faith. One of my first steps was actually this blog! I had created it in 2019 but had only posted once since. However, this year alone I have published 17 blogs!! This will be my 18th post! That is a miracle! I also enjoyed sharing scriptures to encourage myself and everyone around me so I created an Instagram account called Inspired by V (@inspired_by_v). On that account I post all my favourite verses and verses that minister to me and to date I have posted 175 posts on it!

I didn’t stop there! I started a baby shop called Nkosi’s Baby Shop which is still taking shape and coming up. Then I took part in a GoGetter Movement mentorship program in which I was a mentee. Shout out to my amazing mentor who told me to be Iconic or nothing at all! As if that wasn’t enough, I became a cell group leader of an amazing group called Doers of the Word. Then to put the cherry on the cake, I did a diploma in Corporate Law and Securities Law! Yoh, it’s been a busy year! Imagine, from doing nothing but praying in the previous years, to having my plate full of stuff that I genuinely enjoyed doing. I was conquering the world one day and step at a time.

This is my testimony of how taking steps of faith opened up so many doors for me. As I moved God moved with me and showed me the way! I could have decided to dwell in my pit of anxiety and worry waiting for a savior to come and pick me up and make things happen for me. Instead, by the grace of God, I picked myself up and started moving forward. To where, I wasn’t sure. But I got out of my comfort zone and took a leap of faith trusting that God would reveal His plans for me as I pushed and went for what I desired! I believe that more clarity will come as I put one foot after the other. It’s been a journey of courage, growth, self discovery, rebranding and stepping out. I found my spark again and I believe I’m on the right path. I sense God approving and cheering me on every step of the way!

So I encourage you today, don’t wait for someone to come and save you. No one is coming! Your life and happiness is your responsibility. Don’t expect God to do all the work for you when you are not lifting a finger or nurturing the gifts He gave you. As Bishop TD Jakes put it, ‘God has never made a chair or a table. He just made a tree and the rest was up to us! Look around your life for trees from God and make tables!’. How many of us are praying for tables!? Put in the work, take up that opportunity, do what’s in your control and in due season you shall reap! The amount of seed you sow now will determine your harvest in the future.

As you pray and write down your 2022 goals and resolutions, choose to be intentional about everything you want to achieve. Your actions today will determine where you will be this time next year. Will you still be moaning and grumbling about how life is unfair, or would you have taken charge of your life! What have you been procrastinating doing? Has the fear of man been crippling you? The fear of failing perhaps? Don’t let that stop you. Life is too short. The more you fail the closer you get to your breakthrough anyway. Ask Elon Musk, Strive Masiyiwa or any successful person out there. Failing is part of the process. But if you don’t take a chance and execute your dreams you will never know how they could have turned out! So those random ideas you have in your head or heart, try them out! The world is waiting for you. God is waiting on you!

I still have a long way to go, but I am definitely not where I was last year! I thank God for my friends and family who have supported me every step of the way. Special mention to my best friend, biggest supporter and soul mate Mr Husband!! Time time he is that angel I was praying for!

An award I got this year!

Fellow friend, you got this! I believe in you! God is leading and guiding you every step of the way. But you have to take the first step because no one else will do it for you but you!

Let’s end 2021 with a bang!

Much love.

Vongai.
