Purpose in Prison

But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

Genesis 39: 20-23

Joseph had big dreams! I mean he dreamt that one day he would rule the world! But guess where he found himself!? First in a pit, then he was sold as a slave, then he was thrown into prison! Lord have mercy! The story of Joseph is really a roller coster ride. But there is one thing that was constant and that was the presence, favour and purpose of God on his life. In fact, at every stage of his journey, his purpose never left him. However, his route to destiny was a long one and that’s where most of us lose it. We despise the pit and prison yet that’s the place that’s meant to lead us to the palace!

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, and are called according to His purpose!

Romans 8:28

Today I want to remind you that as long as you are in God’s hand, you are in God’s purpose. No matter where you are in life, God’s favour and anointing is all you need to get you to your destiny. Wherever you are is the perfect place for God to use you and elevate you. Don’t despise humble beginnings. They’re meant to mould us, sharpen our gifts and build our character. What doesn’t kill you really makes you stronger! You wouldn’t be the person you are today if it wasn’t for all the challenges you have had to overcome. So refuse to be stagnant. The pit has a job! Hold on to your dream and allow yourself to grow and glow even in the dark! In your ‘prison’, the place or season you feel is not where you are meant to be, be faithful. Be true, work hard, serve others and be your best self. Stay connected to God and watch what He will do for you in due season!

Don’t be surprised when you face trials and tribulations. Favour attracts conflict! Look at how Joseph was Jacob’s favourite son and his brothers despised him. Then as a slave, he found favour with Potiphar but was falsely accused of trying to violate Potiphar’s wife. In prison, he found favour with the keeper of the prison, but for two years pharoah’s chief cupbearer forgot about Joseph after his dream had been interpreted! The enemy is fighting you so hard because of how great your calling is and one day it will all make sense. You may be feeling stuck, lost and restricted, but like Abraham who did not waver in faith, stand firm on God’s promises no matter how long it takes. Where you are is not an indicator of where you are going!

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change his mind. Does he speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?

Numbers 23:19

Remember the two prisoners who were crucified with Jesus? One prisoner decided to mock Jesus whilst the other asked for mercy and received eternal life. Jesus is with you right now, which prisoner will you be?

So take heart. You are at the right place at the right time! Your circumstance doesn’t change your anointing and gifting! God’s glory can still reach into your prison and lead you to your promised land.

The Palace is coming!

Much Love,

V.
