REFOCUS!!!

Have you ever wanted something so badly that it was the only thing you could think about???

Well, today we refocus! Today we stop focusing on our prayer requests and we turn our gaze back to our maker. We fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God!

Hebrews 12:1-2

You know the story of Peter walking on water right? Well, how many times have we judged Peter for losing his faith and sinking? We forget that it took immense faith for him to even take those first few steps towards Jesus. I probably would have been the doubting Thomas sitting right at the back of the boat watching everything in shock and disbelief!

So Peter did the unimaginable and walked on water! He was making great progress until he looked at the raging wind and water, then he got scared and started to sink. Poor Peter! Well guess what, that story depicts a clear picture of our faith and focus. A lot of the time we focus so much on everything going wrong around us that we start to lose our trust in God. The storms of life cripple us with doubt and fear and like Peter, we fall into depression, anxiety and hopelessness. We pay so much attention to our needs and desires that we idolize them and make them bigger than God.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your path.

Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV

I’m here to encourage you to stop looking at all the negatives happening in your life right now and fix your eyes on Jesus. As you run your race, remember that Jesus is your peace in the storm. He is your friend in the trials and tribulations and He is your Lord through it all. Yes, take your first steps of faith, push towards your goals and work for your dreams. But remember to keep your eyes on God trusting that He is bigger than anything that the enemy may throw at you. Believe that He who has began a good work in you will see it to completion. Faith in God will have us walking in the supernatural. For we walk by faith and not by sight. May we be so dependent on God who is our source and purpose that nothing that comes our way intimidates us. May we desire God more than anything else!

The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him, thought he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

Psalm 37:23-24

Everyday, God is firming up your steps to keep you from falling! So run your race and walk on water. But whatever you do, don’t lose your sight on Jesus! Your future is secure in His hands.

And when you do fall, remember that Jesus is right there ready to catch you!

Be blessed.

Vongai.
